Vertu Continues to Release Luxury Gadgets Under Its Own Brand
Despite being based in China, Vertu continues to produce luxury gadgets under its own brand. To do this, the company relies on third-party manufacturers: first, Vertu reworked a smartphone from Hisense, then re-released two foldable phones from Royole, and now actively rebrands some of ZTE’s flagship devices.
The new Vertu Ironflip smartphone (which, by the way, is the brand’s first folding phone) was also made from a ZTE smartphone, specifically the recently released Nubia Flip. However, this time not only the appearance but also some of the hardware components have undergone changes. The processor used is now the previous flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 instead of the two-year-old Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Other minor changes include an update from Bluetooth 5.2 to 5.3 and an increase in wired charging speed from 33W to 65W.
Everything else remains unchanged. The internal display has a 6.9″ diagonal and a 120Hz refresh rate, while the external screen measuring 1.43″ serves as an auxiliary display. The main camera with an unknown resolution is complemented by a 2MP depth sensor, which seems somewhat unserious for a premium smartphone. The battery capacity is 4310mAh, and it charges via a Type-C 3.2 port. Other features include eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6, and NFC. There is no official water resistance rating.
The Vertu Ironflip is available in a single configuration of 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The price starts at $4500, and for this amount, you will get a folding phone covered in young calfskin leather in black, blue, brown, red, or orange. The alligator leather variant, depending on the color, will cost you $5900 or $7200. For comparison, the original ZTE Nubia Flip is priced from €600 in Europe and as low as $415 in China.
